Snus was originated from Sweden in the 19th century, and is moist tobacco powder. It is a form of snuff that is used in similar to American dipping tobacco, but has eliminated the need for spitting. Snus tobacco is steam cured rather than a fire cured tobacco and sugar is never added. Until recently Snus was not available in the US, but thanks to RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company the Camel Snus brand has made a significant introduction. There is a difference between Snuff and Snus, but it is quite confusing. The English word for Snuff means Snus in Swedish. In English and Swedish the Snus means a form of moist tobacco is placed under the upper lip. Snuff or luktsnus means the tobacco is inhaled. Even more confusing the word snuff may be used to refer to dipping tobacco, which is moist tobacco and is also applied to the lower lip and gums.
 
Why do you see some Snus in the refrigerator? The majority of Snus in Sweden is refrigerated, it helps to preserve the flavor and quality, but it is not required. Why don't you spit Camel Snus? Its low salt content and moisture level reduce the need for spitting.

Snus is specifically made to insert into the mouth of the user. The pouch is made of a water-permeable material containing tobacco, and a mass of microcapsules that are dispersed within the tobacco. The tobacco may include an additive such as flavorants, water, binders, fillers, pH adjusters, colorants, buffering agents, disintegration aids, antioxidants, humectants, oral care ingredients, preservatives, additives derived from botanical or herbal sources, and other mixtures.
